Rhythm and Cello is excited to perform at Acoustic Emporium in the Fraser Valley later this month! We’ll be playing a full complement of original tunes to get you moving – so get ready for some folk, Latin and reggae on acoustic guitar & cello to make your Friday night a little brighter.
About Acoustic Emporium
The Acoustic Emporium is a registered non-profit that hosts high-quality live, original acoustic music. If you love roots/alt/folk/singer-songwriter genres, this is the place for you!
This past March found Rhythm and Cello at The Juniper Room in East Van, along with the John Welsh Band, to film a couple of live music videos. This is the first time the two bands have shared the stage, despite John being a member of both – it was sort of like introducing your wife to your mistress…only we’re still not sure which of us has tied the knot 😛
The Juniper Room
The stellar crew at the Juniper Room covered the room with their roving cameras as friends, family and fans filled the room with their energy. Each band played a set for the audience and filmed a song or two, and by the end of the night, the room was hopping. The highlight had to be Courage and John performing their rendition of a crowd-favourate Sir Mix-a-Lot hit from the 90s. We can’t say enough about the funky venue and the guys that looked after us and our fans – we’re looking forward to seeing the final videos and know you’ll enjoy them too!

In case you missed it, here are a few shots from the night. Special thanks to those who passed photos along to us:

Electric cello, anyone?
We’d like to send out a huge thanks to all of you who came out and helped to make these videos a success! We couldn’t’ have done it without you. Stay tuned for the official video releases in the coming weeks!
We’re thrilled to return to Sisto Pub in Mission, BC to host Open Mic night on Sunday, March 29th! If you’re in the Fraser Valley, we invite you out to share the stage, your talents, a pitcher or just your enthusiasm!
What to Expect at Open Mic Night
Rhythm and Cello will warm up the room with an opening set of original and cover tunes, and then we’ll open the stage to local talent (that’s you!), and round out the night with a final set or two, as time allows. No cover, great food, and the beer taps will be pouring all night!
Special thanks to the talented Jenny Bice, Sisto’s Open Mic coordinator and standing host, for offering us the host chair this week!
Join us for a special show and filming of the John Welsh Band & Rhythm and Cello at Vancouver’s Juniper Room in East Van on Friday, March 20th, 2015. This is the first time we’ve shared the stage with the John Welsh Band, despite John being the common thread between both music groups. We joke that it’s sort of like introducing your wife to your mistress – you might not want to miss the action!
Live Video Shoot
We will be using live music videos from this performance for promo and our application to this year’s Peak Performance Project so we would love to have your bring your energy and support! There is no cover, and yes, it is licensed so you can get some liquid enthusiasm if you need it!
